AFTER DEATH
The French politician and writer André Malraux attended a Congress of the Communist Party of France. A comrade enthusiastically presented the program of the Party; “we will do this, we will do the other, we will... we will... we will.. ”. At that moment a colleague of his jumped up (probably very elderly) and asked him: “Comrade! And what will happen with death?!” André Malraux tells us that this question remained without any reply. What could they say? That everything ends here?! “Death is bitter without hope”. Our book gives an answer to this burning issue, based on the teaching of our Church, which is full of hope and light. May it give meaning to our lives!

(...) Can the momentary actions ( the temporary relief for the damned souls) be a permanent state of affairs? Can a soul, through the power of the memorial services, prayers, etc. leave Hell forever and enter Paradise? (...)
The deceased priest Georgios Aspropoulos appeared in a vision to the Elder Joseph the Hesychast and said: “When I was alive, I thought that only the (Divine) Liturgies were instrumental in removing a soul from Hell; but now that I have died I have indeed seen that even your prayers can remove the damned soul from Hell!” (Protopresbyter. George Triantafyllou. Elder Joseph the Hesychast j. Hermitage of Our Lady Myrtidiotissa Paros, p. 54).
St. John Damascene informs us that St. Gregory the Dialogues, Pope of Rome, conducted a “powerful prayer to the lifeloving Lord for the forgiveness of the sins com- mitted by the emperor Trajan ”. And the result was that God removed Trajan from ... Hell !: “Everyone in the East and the West is a witness to this ”, which demonstrates the huge impact that this event had on the entire Church! (St. John Damascene. Regarding the belief concerning the deseased P.G. 95:262 – 264). (...)
Of course, the prayers of non-Saints are also heard when done with persistence and compunction! But what worldly person prays thus for his dead relative? Do you pray? (...) Well: You care for your soul. And do not "toss dice" for your eternal salvation! Don’t!!
