FAITH Health & Longevity

God: "My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you" (Prov. 3:1-2).

And modern science "confirms" that faith in God and the observance of His commandments bring health and longevity. A great thing indeed.
We will examine this.

1. The lost one

2. The mistake

Man is not what he seems; what shows is half of his existence; what is not seen is the other half; he may look beautiful, handsome, smiling on the outside, but inside he has nightmares...

- Doctor, I'm lonely; save me! A sick man asked his psychiatrist.
- Distract yourself with pleasures and amusements.
- I've had enough of them. I'm disgusted.
- Distract yourself with travel.
- I've been all over the world. I'm tired.
- Watch comedies, you will laugh!
- They get on my nerves!
- Don't say that. Yesterday at the theater, a clown made us laugh!
- I know!
- Then why don't you go to comedies?
- I'm the clown who made you laugh!

In order to speak accurately about man, therefore, we must know what exactly this man is. Otherwise, we will give him unfit food to eat, and as a result we will finish him off.

In any case, man is not like a dog, like a cat, living only on material food. Man has a mystery the so called a soul and as man, "shall not live by bread alone".1

He was created by God to be in communion with Him. He sinned, was cut off from God, and this brought him misery, sickness and death.
Happiness, this first form of life, was deeply engraved in the first man, in Adam; it became an element of his nature; it is inherited by his descendant.2 No mortal man desires misery. Everybody desires happiness. But here man makes the same mistake that Adam, his forefather, made. He seeks happiness while violating the divine commandments, thus falling, of his own accord, into the cliff of his unhappiness.

1. Mt. 4:4

2. Christ also inherited it as a man; when He said in His prayer, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me" (Mt. 26:39). He expressed the essence of human nature; His human nature spoke; but then He submitted the will of His nature to the will of God; "nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." (Mt. 26:39).
